The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) (Fire) Station Construction Grants (SCG) are authorized by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (P.L. 111-5). The total amount of funds available under the FY 2009 ARRA SCG is $210,000,000. The purpose of the FY 2009 ARRA SCG is to create or save jobs in recession-hit areas and achieve other purposes stated in ARRA, and achieve AFG goals of firefighter safety and improved response capability/capacity based on need through the construction, renovation or modification of fire stations.

The ARRA PSGP is one tool in the comprehensive set of measures authorized by Congress and implemented by the Administration to strengthen the Nation’s critical infrastructure against risks associated with potential terrorist attacks. The Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002, as amended (46 U.S.C. §70107), established the PSGP to implement Area Maritime Transportation Security Plans and facility security plans among port authorities, facility operators, and State and local government agencies required to provide port security services.
